Mosquito-repellent Company Killing Mosquitoes Is Not Punished

Nov 06, 2019

In the Indian Ocean island nation of Sri Lanka, dengue fever has recently erupted, and mosquitoes are the chief culprits in the spread of dengue fever. A local mosquito-repellent incense production company may face six months of reeducation through the elimination of mosquitoes.

According to a Reuters report on June 30, statistics from the Ministry of Health of Sri Lanka show that 13479 people have been infected with dengue fever this year, and 150 more have lost their lives.

In order to fully “block” dengue fever and control the spread of the disease, Sri Lankan police and health officials have launched an operation to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds. They spray insecticides and clean up the water in various houses. Any organization or individual who violates the "killing" of mosquitoes will face penalties such as fines and imprisonment.

Attagar public health inspection official De Silva said: "We found mosquito larvae in some empty cans at the company base, but the company did not promptly remove this mosquito breeding ground, and we punish it accordingly. ""

On June 29, the court fined the person in charge of the company for 1,500 rupees (about 13 US dollars) and sentenced it to suspend execution. However, if the person in charge is still unable to organize employees to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds in time, the judgment will immediately resume the effect.
